Sarı Gelin is a traditional folk song popular in Turkey and other parts of the Middle East and Central Asia. It is also known as "Allah Yar" in Azerbaijan and "Qumeylər" in Iran. The song tells the story of a young woman (Sarı Gelin, meaning "blonde bride" in Turkish) who falls in love with a man and decides to elope with him, despite her family's objections.
Sami Yusuf is a British singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist of Iranian Azerbaijani descent. He is known for his fusion of Islamic and Western music, and for his advocacy of interfaith dialogue. Yusuf has released several albums, including "Al-Mu'allim" (2003), "My Ummah" (2005), and "Wherever You Are" (2010). He has also performed at various concerts and events around the world, including the Nobel Peace Prize concert in 2007. In 2014, Yusuf released a version of Sarı Gelin as part of his album "The Centre".
